This 5 x 50 mm screw has a special anti-rust coating that offers protection against tannic acids found in many hardwoods. This coating gives the screw its brown colour. You do not have to worry that the coating will be damaged when the decking screw is screwed in. The anti-tannic acid or anti-rust coating has a self-healing effect. As a result, minor damage is not dangerous.

Black Spots on your Decking

When using deck screws that do not have a protective Anti Rust coating, you will start to find black spots on your hardwood decking boards within 48 hours. The lower part of the thread is serrated. This makes it easier to cut through hardwood. Always use high quality torx 25 bits from Wovar to prevent damage to the head. The screw is made of galvanised steel. This makes the screw extremely strong. Thanks to the applied coating, the decking screws do not rust. It is also resistant to tannic acid.

Milling ribs are located under the countersunk head. These provide a nice countersink in the wood. Do you want the head to disappear completely into the wood? Then use our 4 mm countersink drills. Just drill for 3 seconds and you will see that the head countersinks beautifully.
