Frame Screws

With frame screws and frame fixings, you can fix a wooden beam firmly to a stone wall. In the past, expansion bolts were mainly used for this. With frame fixings for heavy constructions and frame screws for less demanding jobs, this is much easier.

What is the difference? Frame fixings and hammer fixings have a fixing for the wall. The frame screws do not require a fixing. These have a special full wire connection. These frame screws are widely used for mounting a wooden beam to the facade, for example when building an extension carport or wooden roof on the facade of your home. Discover Wovar, your online screw wholesaler with fast delivery.

We see these galvanised frame screws more and more. Once tested you will discover how firmly this screw fixes your beam to walls. Wovar supplies frame screws in 3 different types. Namely the flat head version, the cylinder head version and the spherical head version. The frame screws with a flat head and round head design are suitable for aluminum and plastic frames. Frame screws with a cylinder head are especially for wooden frames. The cylinder head sinks nicely into the wood and that leads to a beautiful end result.

When you work with frame screws, it is always necessary to pre-drill. The thickness of your drill depends on the substrate. A 6mm drill bit is sufficient for a stone surface and a 6.5mm drill bit for a concrete surface. The correct screw-in depth is indicated below. For the correct drilling depth, add 10mm to the screw-in depth.

Would you rather use a hammer fixing? Then view our frame fixings. There is something for everyone in the Wovar screw shop.

Screw-in depth of Wovar frame screws

  • Concrete 30mm screw-in depth
  • Limestone 40mm screw-in depth
  • Red brick 40mm screw-in depth
  • Pumice stone 50mm screw-in depth
  • Lightweight concrete 60 mm screw-in depth
  • Wood 40 mm

For door frames it is common to use 8 frame screws. Screw 4 frame screws on both sides spread over the long side. Frames smaller than 150 cm are firmly attached with 6 frame screws.

What length of frame screws do I need?

Add the frame and screw-in depth together. Remove 10mm from this and you will know what length of frame screw you need. Please note, take into account the spaces between the substrate and the frame. If there is, add it to the screw-in depth and the thickness of the frame.

Wovar's frame screws are available in sizes 7.5 mm x 72 / 92 / 112 / 132 / 152 mm.
