To attach the zinc plated carriage bolts, start by drilling a hole that is 1 mm thicker than the carriage bolt. So for the M8 size you use a 9 mm hardwood drill. Then the carriage bolt goes into the hole and tap with a rubber hammer on the approximately 20 mm wide head of the carriage bolt. Due to the blow with the hammer, the square part under the semicircular head now clamps in the wood, preventing the coach bolt from turning. The rubber of the hammer does not damage the head, so that the zinc layer remains intact.

When this is done you can attach and tighten the washer and nut. for this you need a wrench size 13. With this wrench size you can tighten the supplied M8 nut for a firm fastening.
