Angle Grinder Discs

Looking for high-quality, durable angle grinder discs? Wovar offers professional angle grinder discs (also called cut-off or cutting discs, and cut-off or cutting wheels) for low prices. These angle grinder discs easily slide through metal and stainless steel. They will not leave burn marks and cause minimal burr formation. The most common dimensions for cutting discs are:

  • Diameter 115 mm, thickness 1 mm, bore 22.23 mm
  • Diameter 125 mm, thickness 1 mm, bore 22.23 mm
  • Diameter 230 mm, thickness 1.9 mm, bore 22.23 mm

It is important to check the size of your angle grinder before buying an angle grinder disc, so you can be sure the disc will fit the grinder.

Frequently asked questions

Angle grinder discs are also called cutting or cut-off discs or wheels. With a cutting disc for angle grinders, you can cut through metal. Wovar's cut-off discs are not suitable for deburring, as this risks shattering the disc. Our cutting wheels fit on most angle grinders.

The best cutting disc for you depends on the material you want to cut. Wovar's cut-off discs are suitable for cutting metal, including stainless steel. The thicker the material you want to cut, the thicker the cutting disc should be. We offer 1 mm and 1.9 mm discs. 1 mm cutting wheels can be used for material up to 5 mm thick. Above 5 mm, you will have to use a thicker cut-off wheel. You can find the diameter you need on your angle grinder. Note: Wovar's cutting discs are not suitable for deburring.

  1. Always unplug the angle grinder first. If you have a cordless angle grinder, remove the battery. Not doing so can result in the cutting disc launching from the grinder while you are replacing it.
  2. Now you can replace the cutting disc. Press the lock button and move the disc around until it clicks. Keep pressing the lock button and remove the clamping nut using the machine's factory keys.
  3. Take off the old disc and place the new disc on the machine.
  4. Replace the clamping nut, while pressing the lock button.

As soon as the cutting disc shows cracks or little pieces start to fall off, you need to replace the disc. Next to that, we strongly recommend replacing the disc when it has fallen on the ground or been wet. Finally, our cut-off discs have an expiry date. Once the cutting wheel has reached its expiry date, you should also remove it.

Planning on cutting steel? Wovar's cutting discs easily slide through steel, stainless steel included. Our cut-off discs are available in several sizes, all with the standard bore size of 22.23 mm. Note: the cutting discs can only be used for cutting steel, not for deburring or sanding steel.

Angle grinder disc metal

There are a few things to pay attention to when using cut-off wheels for metal. For example, the cutting discs have an expiry date. To ensure your safety and the proper functioning of the disc, we advise against using the cutting discs past their expiry date. Added to that, we warn against using (lightly) damaged or damp cut-off discs, because there is a risk of shattering the disc. Therefore, if you've dropped a cutting wheel, we urge you not to use it anymore.

When working with an angle grinder, also be sure to use safety equipment, such as gloves and safety glasses.

Types of cutting discs

Many types of cutting discs exist, all made for different purposes and machines. Wovar's cut-off discs can be used solely with angle grinders. Angle grinders are used perpendicular to the material, i.e., you grind the material at a 90° angle. Our cutting wheels are available with a diameter of 115, 125, and 230 mm. The right size for your project depends on the thickness of the material you want to cut. The thickness of the material should not be more than 10% of the disc's diameter. All our cutting discs are free of sulfur, iron, and chloride. Added to that, they are very thin, causing minimal burrs and sparks.

Replacing a cut-off disc

Below you will find a short guide on how to replace a disc on your angle grinder safely.

The most used angle grinder disc is the 125 mm blade. This cutting wheel is incredibly durable, as are the 115 mm and 230 mm discs.
