U-Anchor for 7 x 7 cm Posts - Per piece

U-shaped post anchor

This strong, U-shaped post holder is 5 mm thick and contains 8 mounting holes. However, you will only need 6 fasteners. This is because the upright segments are meant to be attached to the post with two large bolts. These bolts should go straight through the post and come out the other end. The post anchors are approximately 20 cm high. The width of the base is 56 mm. The width of the two upright segments is 46 mm. The mounting holes have a diameter of 11 mm. This makes them suitable for coach screws and post holder screws 10 mm thick. We recommend using the mounting holes in the upright segments for our 10 x 40 mm post holder screws.

Which fasteners do I need?

For the four mounting holes in the base, you can use our 10 mm thick coach screws. You can also combine these with our nylon plugs. This allows you to easily anchor the post holder in stone and concrete. For coach screws 10 mm thick, use a nylon plug 14 x 70 mm. To get a larger support surface and higher clamping range, also use washers M10. A washer also prevents coach screw from damaging the U-anchor when tightening the screw. This reduces the chance of rust developing over time.

How to install a U-anchor

First, determine the correct place of the post holder. Then mark the 4 mounting holes of the base on the ground. Next, drill four holes in the stone on concrete with our hammer drill bit 14 mm thick. The depth of the hole depends on the length of fasteners you are using. Always drill 1 cm deeper than the length of your coach screw. For instance, with coach screws 10 x 60 mm, the hole should be 70 mm deep.

After drilling the holes, insert the nylon plugs. Next, place the U-anchor in the right place and fasten it with the coach screws. During tightening, the plugs will expand, anchoring your post holder firmly in the stone or concrete.
