This black open corner bracket with extension allows you to easily expand your pergola. The open design for 12 x 12 cm posts makes it possible to lay a long pergola beam across your post and then place a crossbeam over it. This also gives the long beam extra support, as the extension protrudes on both sides of the post. The net dimension of the black connector is 11.5 x 11.5 cm. Because it is an open T-model with extension, it can also accommodate slightly thicker beams on the extension piece. For example, if you have beams measuring 13.5 x 13.5 cm, this extension corner bracket is still perfectly suitable. For beams of 15 x 15 cm or thicker, please use our larger variant. Installing an open pergola corner extension

Building your own pergola is easier than you think. You don't have to worry about ordering the right fasteners separately, as they are included in the package:

• 8 coach screws M8 x 70 mm
• 8 cover caps for M8 coach screws
• 8 black washers

The black extending corner bracket has mounting holes with a diameter of 8 mm, with 8 mounting holes in total. Place the beams in the correct position and pre-drill pilot holes using a 5 mm hardwood drill bit. Then insert the black screws into the holes and tighten them firmly. Tip: always use a matching TX25 driver bit to tighten the screws. You can find these in our range of driver bits.

Installing diagonal braces

Diagonal braces are not only aesthetically pleasing, but they also make your pergola much stronger. You can easily install these braces at the corner brackets and extension connectors. Use our 6 mm wafer head screws in combination with a TX30 driver bit.

Which wafer head screws you need and how deep to pre-drill the pilot holes depends on the dimensions of the brace you use. Take a look at the table below for an overview.

Because the wafer head screws are long, you will need a 6 x 230 mm auger drill bit to pre-drill the pilot holes. Drill the holes approximately 10 cm from the longest side of the diagonal brace.

Finishing tip: For a countersunk finish, enlarge the pre-drilled holes using a 24 mm spade drill bit. Drill this hole to a depth of roughly 10 mm to conceal the wafer head screws neatly into the timber.
