The rim lock is 75 mm wide, has a depth of 33 mm, and includes fasteners. Added to that, this window lock is SKG1 certified. This indicates that the lock can withstand a simple burglary attempt for at least 3 minutes.

The rim lock consists of the following parts:

Installing a black, SKG rim lock

To install this window lock, you need a minimum frame width of 32 mm. The tools you will need are a hammer, a chisel, a 2.5 mm hardwood drill bit, and a 18 mm spade drill bit. 

1. Determine the position of the lock. For window frames with a depth up to 65 mm, place the lock 4 to 5 mm from the frame. For window frames with a depth of 65 mm or more, place the lock 3 mm from the frame.
2. Mark where the screws need to go and pre-drill the holes no deeper than 30 mm.
3. Fix the lock to the frame with two of the 5 x 50 screws. 
4. Close the window and turn the lock  in to the 'locked' position. This determines the position of the strike plate.
5. Mark this spot and dril the hole for the strike plate 25 mm with the 18 mm spade drill bit.
6. Place the strike plate in the hole and draw the outline of the lock on the frame.
7. Mark the mounting holes of the strike plate and pre-drill these with the 2.5 mm hardwood drill. Do not go deeper than 30 mm.
8. Use the hammer and chisel to chisel the space within the outline to a depth of 4 mm so the strike plate can sink into the frame.
9. Fix the strike plate to the frame with the provided 5 x 50 screws.
10. Test the lock to see whether it works properly.
11. Use the remaing screws to complete fastening the lock.
12. Place the cover cap on top of the lock.
