Large amounts of rainwater quickly cause inconvenience: it is therefore important to ensure proper rainwater drainage. A small gutter is placed strategically along your patio tiles to drain excess water. This prevents flooding, puddle formation, and the risk of paving subsidence.
- Install the gutter where water flows naturally, or create a slight slope in the paving (approx. 1%) to guide it.
- On a balcony or veranda, the narrow width of 55 mm allows you to install drainage without losing usable surface area.

Which grate to choose for a small gutter?
The gutter grate is the only visible part once installation is complete. Our small gutters come in three finishes:
- Aluminum grate: Bright and lightweight, it does not rust and pairs well with natural stone or light concrete patios.
- Black grate: The most discreet finish: the black almost completely blends into dark paving and suits modern gardens.
- Corten steel grate: Corten steel develops a rust patina over the months. The obvious choice if your garden already features corten steel borders or planters.
How to install a small gutter
The small gutter is installed 2 to 5 mm below the level of the paving so that water drains into it properly. Then connect it to a PVC pipe or another drain pipe. This model falls under load class A15: it is suitable for non-traffic areas only, such as patios and pedestrian paths.
Be sure to include the matching parts when ordering, which are essential for a hassle-free installation:
- Two end caps to neatly seal both ends
- A connector to join two gutters together
- A side outlet or bottom outlet for connection to the PVC pipe
- A corner piece to go around a patio at 90°
- A sand trap to catch sand and dirt
Small gutter or wide gutter: which to choose?
The choice mainly depends on the volume of water. For a balcony, veranda, or small patio, the 55 mm small gutter is more than sufficient. For a large patio, driveway, or surface exposed to heavy rain, head towards our 130 mm wide gutter, which have a significantly higher drainage capacity.
