You then determine where the strap hinge will be placed on the fence. You mark these spots and drill them out using 11-millimeter thick hardwood drills. Then use carriage bolts to fasten the hinge. A carriage bolt M10 x 75 is the minimum length you need. After you have put the M10 carriage bolt through the hinge and gate, tighten it using an open-end wrench 17. You will need 3 carriage bolts because this hinge has 3 square holes on both sides.
