These subtle flush bolts are the perfect alternative to espagnolette locks thanks to their small size. The flush bolts can be operated by pulling a lever all the way up or down. This movement causes the locking pin to slide in and out of the flush bolt. The pin cannot be moved without using the lever, resulting in a secure lock.

Flush bolts are typically used for French doors or double doors without a door frame between the doors. These doors often have one door that is locked in place for most of the time. Many double doors already have mortices in the side of the door specifically for these kinds of locks, but if this is not the case, that is no problem. You can make these mortices yourself or simply install the flush bolts on the inside of the door.

Installing flush bolts

To install these black flush bolts, you will need thin, black screws. We recommend using black screws 3 x 30 mm. These screws fit in the mounting holes of the flush bolt and can also be used to attach the strike plate to the door frame. The flush bolts are installed either recessed in the side of the door or on the inside of the door. Always install one at the top and one at the bottom of the door to prevent the door from warping.

You can drill the hole that the pin will go into with our high-quality 10 mm spade drill bits, after which you can even choose to countersink the strike plate in the door frame or threshold. If you decide to do this, use a sharp chisel to take out the wood, after which you install the strike plate in the recessed space.
