Due to the net size of 190 mm x 190 mm, our open corner extension bracket is widely used for 20 x 20 cm posts. Do you have thicker beams? Installing Pergola Corner Extension Brackets 20 x 20 cm

The black corner extension bracket has four surfaces with mounting holes. On the long side, where the carrier beam comes over, you will find four mounting holes. The 3 other sides are all provided with two mounting holes.

You can make your pergola extra strong by attaching angled braces to the corner and connecting pieces. You can easily attach this with two of our construction lag screws and a TX40 bit.

The length of these construction lag screws depends on the length and thickness of the chosen angled brace. Below is an overview of the lengths that you can use:

• a strut of 50 x 90 = a construction lag screw of 8 x 120 mm
• a strut of 50 x 150 mm = a construction lag screw of 8 x 140 mm
• a strut of 50 x 200 mm = a construction lag screw of 8 x 160 mm

To screw in the construction lag screws you will need to pre-drill the mounting holes. You drill these holes about 10 cm from the longest side of the angled brace.

Due to the length of the screws, a standard hardwood drill is not enough to drill these holes. In this case, use our auger drill 6 x 230 mm. The depth of the holes is 40 mm shorter than the length of the screw. With a 120 mm screw, this would therefore be 80 mm deep.

Crafting tip: Use a 24 mm spade drill and drill out the pre-drilled mounting holes 10 mm deep. This way you can countersink the construction lag screws in the bracket, and you have a neater finish.
