Which fastener do I need?

Regular hinges tend to have round mounting holes, so they require coach screws. These hinges have 9 x 9 mm, square mounting holes, which means you will have to use carriage bolts. The square part behind the head of the bolt fits exactly in the square hole, creating a strong connection. For 9 x 9 mm holes, always use M8 carriage bolts. The length of the bolts depends on the thickness of your door.

Cranked hinges

This hinge is the 'band' part of a hook and band hinge. You will need to add a hinge hook to your order to complete the hinge. These cranked hinges have a 16 mm eye, which means you should combine them with our galvanised 16 mm hinge hooks. Hinge hooks are plate-mounted hooks. Attach the hinge hook with galvanised garden screws or galvanised chipboard screws. After securing the cranked hinges to the door and the hinge hooks to the frame, lift the door to place the hinges on the hinge hooks. The gate can now be used.
