Coated Deck Screw - for Hardwoods with Tannic Acid, like Garapa 5 x 80 mm

Coated Deck Screw - for Hardwoods with Tannic Acid, like Garapa 5 x 80 mm

Do you wish not to see black spots in your decking made of Oak, Garapa, Kapur, Red Cedar, or other tannic acid-containing woods? Then, these coated deck screws 5 x 80 mm are your solution. Stainless Steel 410 deck screws cannot handle the tannic acid, which will cause the black spots to occur on your boards, or can even break themselves, after a while. Coated decking screws can withstand tannic acid and are just as strong as Stainless Steel 410 screws.

How to Install a Decking with Hardwoods containing Tannic Acid?

Our coated 5 x 80 mm deck screw has a partial thread. This makes the screw very suitable for wood on wood constructions because it pulls the boards tight against one another. Pre-drilling with a 3.5 mm hardwood drill bit is necessary to ensure that the screw goes in nicely. Pre-drilling will also further reduce the small chance of a screw breaking.

The coated screw is partly countersunk by itself through the milling ribs under the head. You can realize a complete countersinking of the screw with the Wovar countersink drills. To make your boards' finished look even better, mount each board the same distance using our Wovar decking spacer. The decking spacer allows you to make the spacing between each board the same. Finally, with our decking liner, you can place all the screws in a straight line.

Torx Bits for Deck Screws

To easily install your decking screws, use the correct Torx bits. Using a suitable bit is very important. Using the wrong bit will damage the screw head. This can affect any coating, in this case the tannic acid coating. The screw will then be affected by the tannic acids. In addition, the screw is subject to corrosion, which in the worst case, means a rusted screw. In addition to the right bit, the distance between the decking boards also provides a nice finish. So don't forget to order your decking spacers!
